SMS Opt-In
This page shows how workers opt in to text messages from Hard Hat Hippo LLC (Hard Hat Hippo), exactly as it appears when signing up. Job-alert texts are optional.
Who Sends the Texts

How a Worker Opts In
On the worker signup form (step 3, "Let's get you hired"), the worker enters name and phone number. Directly under the phone field is this optional checkbox. It is not ticked by default. A worker can create a profile without ticking it.
(Picture of the checkbox. The live one is on the signup form.) Under the Create Profile button the form also says: "By signing up you agree to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We may text you about your own applications and messages. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP anytime. Always free for workers."
Ticking the box is the opt-in. We record the date, the phone number and which wording version was shown ("worker_signup_checkbox_v1"). Consent is not a condition of signing up or of using Hard Hat Hippo.
What the Texts Are
- If the box is ticked: new job alerts matching the worker's trade and location, and occasional profile reminders.
- Even if it is not ticked: account texts about the worker's own applications and messages (an employer viewed or contacted them, or sent a message). Reply STOP and these stop too.

How Often, and When
Recurring messages. At most 3 job alerts in any 24 hours, and never more than 1 text of any kind per hour. Texts are sent only between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM in the recipient's local time; anything that would land later waits until 8 AM.
STOP, START and HELP
- Reply STOP (also STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, OPTOUT, REVOKE) to stop all texts. We reply once to confirm.
- Reply START (or UNSTOP) to turn texts back on after a STOP.

Message and data rates may apply. We do not share mobile phone numbers or text-message opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for their marketing.
